I have drawn the same three hands every morning for eleven days and I want to report that they are getting worse.
Not worse-looking. Worse in the sense that I can now see what is wrong with them, which is a different and much more annoying problem than not being able to. On day one I drew a hand and thought, a hand. On day eleven I draw a hand and think, the thumb joint is in the wrong place and the little finger is doing something no little finger does.
Everyone who draws tells you about this and it is still a shock when it happens to you. The skill that arrives first is the one that lets you grade your own work, and it arrives a long time before the one that lets you fix it. So there is a stretch (I do not know how long, and nobody will tell me how long) where the only thing improving is your taste, and your taste is now specifically calibrated to hate your hands.
Anyway. Twelve tomorrow.

the taste arriving before the hands is so real. mending was like this. I could see a bad stitch for about a year before I could make a good one.

day twelve is the one where it clicks, allegedly. I have been told this about several things and it has never once been day twelve

the thumb joint line made me laugh out loud, I have a prose equivalent of the thumb joint and it is dialogue tags
