The boring middlePart 4 of 4

Nine months in and I want to write about the part nobody puts in the story, which is that most of it is extremely boring.

There is no scene. There is a Tuesday, and on the Tuesday you do the same four small things you did on Monday, and one of them is laundry. Progress, as far as I can tell it, is that the four things take slightly less out of me than they did in spring. That is the whole report, and I am aware of how it sounds.

I think the reason recovery narratives skip this is that it is unfilmable. But it is where nearly all the time goes, and knowing that in advance would have helped me enormously, so: it is boring, it is mostly laundry, and the boredom is not a sign it is not working.

the unfilmable thing. yes. every version of this I have read was written by someone who already knew it turned out fine and it makes the whole genre useless from inside it

“it is mostly laundry” is the most useful sentence anyone has written about this
