Confession: I killed the starter in March and never said anything.

Everyone was very invested in it. It had a name. People asked after it. And then I went away for ten days, came back to something grey and beyond reasoning with, and could not face announcing it, so I just quietly stopped mentioning bread for a month.

Started a new one in May. It is fine. It is better than the first one, actually, because I know what I am doing now and I am not treating it like a pet.
