I do not use music streaming services. No spotify, no apple music. I only listen to music I can purchase, either via CDs or download services like Bandcamp. I also do not use locked down devices like iphones, where you are discouraged from adding your own files and installations. Infact, my primary music listening device is my Playstation Portable. I carry my PSP with my everywhere. It's my primary entertainment on the go, whether I'm watching anime, playing video games or listening to music.
My coworkers think it's weird, but I think it's weird people would choose to use streaming services exclusively, where the record label can just decide they don't want you listening to their music anymore and rip the rights away from you. I've had that happen to me with far too many songs - Infact, there was a band I used to be really into on Soundcloud, and they had one song in particular I really liked. It was only ever uploaded on Soundcloud, and performed once at a concert in Tokyo as well. That band removed all of their music from Soundcloud, and now that music is lost media.
That is what radicalized me, what turned me against streaming services. I wish I'd pirated all their music when I had the chance

piracy is the only correct way to deal with all the bs streaming sites. recently i upgraded my homelab with a massive storage server and made my own “media browser” interface that i can use on my phone and tv. no one can take that shit away
